International Maritime Piracy: Resolutions of Other Bodies

How to Research the Law of Piracy on the High Seas

Helpful Search Utilities

To find various documents on piracy initiatives including: resolutions, circulars, sessions, reports, and conferences, the IMO has extensive search capabilities.

NOTE: you will need to register at the site in order to access most functions.  It is simple and free.

For instance, resolutions on piracy may be found at their SeaLibrary Online.  Although one cannot view the full text of the resolutions here, by inputting into the search field "resolution" AND "piracy", limiting the search to Monographs, one is able to see which IMO (and U.N.) resolutions deal with piracy.

From there, with the names of resolutions generated from the SeaLibrary Online, one is then able to find the full text of these resolutions at the IMODOCS page of the International Maritime Organization by searching for them.

Circulars by the Maritime Safety Committee can also be found here.

Index of IMO Resolutions can also be found here.
