On July 18, 2019, the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (Climate Act) was signed into law. New York State’s Climate Act requires New York to reduce economy-wide greenhouse gas emissions 40 percent by 2030 and no less than 85 percent by 2050 from 1990 levels. In addition, NYC passed the Climate Mobilization Act, which sets goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from and improve energy efficiency for certain buildings in New York City.
