Tip: Search the international law-focused encyclopedias below to find overview articles discussing key rights, identifying pertinent principles, and highlighting treaties, cases, UN documents and other sources.  Articles include bibliographies and footnotes that cite to many sources.  Check each article's date of publication. 

Elgar Encyclopedia of Human Rights

  • Click a letter of the alphabet in the table of contents or use "Search within Book" feature (on right).

Max Planck Encyclopedias of International Law

  • Provide 1,700+ peer-reviewed articles on key international law topics.  Contain articles from both Max Planck Encyclopedia of Public International Law and Max Planck Encyclopedia of International Procedural Law.  Articles highlight many primary legal sources and include bibliographies.
