- Tip for BLS students seeking to publish in Brooklyn Journal of International Law (BJIL): Check tables of contents of recently published BJIL volumes at BrooklynWorks: Brooklyn Journal of International Law + list of forthcoming BJIL articles/notes that BJIL editors can provide to you, because you cannot analyze the same law/legal issues.
- Tips for all BLS students interested in international law:
- American Bar Association (ABA) law student membership is free. A law student can join five free ABA groups, including: International Law Section. This will increase a law student's access to: this Section's news, brief articles published in International Lawyer, and webinars.
- ABA lists its upcoming live events (many are webinars) here. Many webinars are free for ABA members.
- ABA International Law Section's current legal news articles are available here to law students who join this Section.
- ABA's International Law Section sponsors meetings/events (virtual + in person). Some programs are initially free to attend, but require membership in this Section to view later "on demand." These meetings/ events highlight current legal issues/problems and key documents, for example:
- International Industrial Animal Agriculture Laws and Practices: Australia, Nepal and South Korea (Sept. 12, 2025), "will cover international laws and practices of industrial animal agriculture through an animal law lens" - webinar available for free to ABA members, registration required.
- Latest Developments in INTERPOL’s Redress Mechanism (July 30, 2025), "will discuss the latest developments in INTERPOL’s efforts aimed at curbing transnational repression and abuse of its channels, including challenges faced by the Commission for the Control of INTERPOL's Files (CCF), new CCF case law, and recently proposed changes to the CCF Statute and INTERPOL's efforts to engage the public in the discussion of the proposed changes" - webinar available to ABA members + non-members, registration required.
- Women Peace and Security Agenda: Contributions and Challenges (July 16, 2025), "will examine the current structure of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 Women Peace and Security Agenda" - webinar available to members + non-members, registration required.
- Introducing Ecocide: Towards a New International Crime (date was: July 2, 2025) - in future, visit ABA Learning Center to see whether ABA recorded this webinar and might provide it "on demand."
- Destruction of Cultural Heritage and International Criminal Law (date was: Apr. 9, 2025) - video available "on demand" to members of ABA's International Law Section.
- For those who join ABA's International Law Section: In late July or early August 2025, articles from International Legal Developments Year in Review 2024 will appear here. These articles will highlight key IL developments by topic and by region.
- American Society of International Law (ASIL) student membership is free for BLS students because BLS is an ASIL Academic Partner. BLS students also can access career development resources (including a job board) and can register for free to attend ASIL's Midyear Meeting. ASIL's student membership page states: "Students from Academic Partner Schools will have the opportunity to obtain a Discount Promo Code during the process of joining or renewing membership with the Society."

- New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) law student membership also is free. It includes access to many practice-focused NYSBA Sections, including: International Section. NYSBA law student members also can access NYSBA webinars (virtual and "on demand"), NYSBA Journal, and State Bar News.
