BLS Library generally provides (on Reserve) 1 copy of adopted course textbooks. During fall/spring semesters, workers staff BLS Library’s circulation desk beginning at 8 am on M-F. Availability of textbooks is often good on early weekday mornings. Also, the BLS student chapter of the National Lawyers Guild organizes a textbook exchange, and BLS students can contact this chapter at nlg@brooklaw.edu
If your textbook publisher is Aspen Publishing:
To take advantage of Aspen Publishing's three-week temporary ebook access to current editions of adopted textbooks, a BLS student needs to create an account at aspenpublishing.com. Please register with a BLS email address and select "Brooklyn Law School" as your school. After a BLS student creates an account, Aspen Publishing will email the student a code to verify the account. (If you do not receive the code, please check your Junk folder.)
After a BLS student is logged in, please access the BLS-specific purchase portal and follow the instructions linked below.
Aspen Publishing's temporary access is granted once per title and remains valid for three weeks from completion of the registration and activation process. This program is designed to help with any inventory, shipping, financial aid, or drop/add period issues.
Aspen Publishing's BLS-specific purchase portal also offers BLS students a 20% discount on orders of current editions of educator-selected Aspen course texts and free shipping. BLS students can search by a professor’s name or course number. BLS students can click the “View Course Titles” button and add books to their cart.
If BLS students experience any issues, Aspen Publishing.com provides “Help Center” and “Contact Us” links (near bottom of Aspen Publishing's web page).
If your textbook publisher is West Academic or Foundation Press:
West Academic’s Early eBook Access Program provides BLS students free, temporary access to adopted West Academic and Foundation Press ebooks one week before Fall Semester classes start for upper-level students and for the first two weeks of class. It is designed to help with any inventory, shipping, financial aid, or drop/add period issues. A BLS student can create an account or sign in with their school email address at eproducts.westacademic.com. BLS students who experience any issues or have specific questions can contact the West Academic Support Team at support@westacademic.com or 877-888-1330. West Academic stated in a recent email: “If students would like to continue their access after the trial ends, they have the option to purchase a discounted eBook on their bookshelf."
BLS students also can refer to the West Academic instructions linked below.
