- States: "The Expert Mechanism is composed of seven independent experts on the rights of Indigenous Peoples."
- States: "EMRIP’s new mandate is to provide the Human Rights Council with expertise and advice on the rights of indigenous peoples as set out in the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, and assist Member States, upon request, in achieving the ends of the Declaration through the promotion, protection and fulfilment of the rights of indigenous peoples."
- Before drafting a study on “Laws, legislation, policies, constitutions, judicial decisions and other mechanisms in which States had taken measures to achieve the ends of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, in accordance with article 38 of the Declaration,” EMRIP is seeking input from Indigenous Peoples, states, national human rights bodies, professors and others. EMRIP will present this draft study at its 17th annual session in July 2024.
