Library Supported Technology: Computer Labs

This guide provides instructions and information about the hardware, software and platforms managed by the Library.

Library Computer Labs

There are two computer lab spaces at BLS: one on the third floor and one in the cellar. Both labs are equipped with a combination of Dell desktops and monitors with laptop docking stations; additionally, there are iMacs available for use in the cellar lab. BLS community members can log into these computers using their credentials (firstname.lastname and password). There is also a small workstation in the Journals Office equipped with Dell desktops exclusively for use by Journal members.

All BLS computers are loaded with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote), Adobe Reader, and web browsers (Firefox, Chrome, and Edge or Safari).

Saving Personal Files

All BLS lab computers are loaded with software that removes any new changes, downloads and files on a nightly basis. All computer users are strongly encouraged to save their files to OneDrive or a USB, as anything saved to a desktop will be automatically deleted.
